Renovation Electrical Services

IN HOUSE TRUSTED TEAM

Electrical Solutions for Home Renovations, Planned and Installed by Licensed Electricians

If you're searching for a renovation electrician in Perth who will get involved early, guide you through the decisions and have the work finished and certified when your builder needs it, Hughes Electrical is the team for the job.

We are licensed electricians who plan, install and certify the electrical work in home renovations from end to end. No subcontractors. No guesswork at the plaster stage. Just a qualified in-house team working on Perth renovations every day.

Residential renovations are one of our core residential electrical services, alongside new builds, upgrades and electrical repairs.

WHy choose Hughes electrical for your renovation

Home electrical work is easy to get wrong in a renovation project. The electrician is brought in late, the lighting is an afterthought, and the switchboard turns out to be too old for the new kitchen. Then the walls are closed and changes get expensive.

Hughes Electrical is different. The best electricians get involved before the plans are finalised, and that is how we work. Our in-house team of licensed electricians works with you from the plans onwards, planning the wiring, lighting and switchboard around how you will actually use the finished space. Good service means telling you what you need and what you don't. When you contact us, you're speaking directly with the people who will do the work.

One contact. One team. Zero run-around.

KEY FEATURES

No obligation consultation
and quote.

We walk through your plans or your home, talk about how each room will be used, and provide a clear, itemised quote covering labour, materials and exclusions. No obligation, no sales pressure.

Guidance on fixtures and fittings.

From LED lighting and ceiling fans to switches, power point installation and outdoor lighting, we help you choose fittings that suit the space, the budget and the look you're after.

We work with your builder.

Rough-in and fit-off are scheduled around the other trades, so the electrical work never holds up plaster, painting or cabinetry.

WHAT WE DO

Renovation ELECTRICAL SERVICES we provide

Kitchen renovations

New kitchens have bigger electrical requirements, with more electrical circuits than old ones. We handle installing power for ovens, cooktops, rangehoods, dishwashers and island benches, plus under-cabinet and feature lighting, and make sure the switchboard carries the extra load from modern appliances without overloaded circuits.

Bathroom and laundry
renovations

Wet areas have strict safety requirements about where fittings can go. We install exhaust fans, heated towel rails, lighting and power points in the right zones with RCD protection, so the room is safe and looks right.

Extensions and second
storeys

An extension means new wiring, new lighting and often a bigger switchboard. We design the layout with your plans, rough in before the walls are closed, and fit off once the finishes are in.

Lighting and fans

LED lighting uses around 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs it replaces, and lasts far longer. We plan and install downlights, pendants, feature lighting, ceiling fans and dimming, plus outdoor lighting, security lighting and path lights for alfresco areas and gardens.

Switchboard upgrades and
rewiring

Homes built before the 1980s often have wiring and switchboards never designed for today's loads. We upgrade switchboards, replace old fuses with safety switches, add surge protection and rewire where needed. Safety switches disconnect power within milliseconds when a fault occurs. RCD protection is required on the final subcircuits of new domestic work under AS/NZS 3000, and WA's Electricity Regulations 1947 require RCDs covering lighting and socket outlet circuits before a home is sold, rented or hired. If your board predates that, a renovation is the sensible time to bring it up to standard.

Smart home, security and
extras

Integrated security systems with security cameras, additional power points and USB outlets, and dedicated circuits for air conditioning, hot water systems and swimming pool equipment. If you're planning smart home integration, home automation, entertainment systems or energy monitoring for better energy efficiency, we plan the wiring now, with provisions for future solar, so the house is future proof rather than retrofitted.

THE Process

What to expect, step-by-step.

01. CONSULTATION

We look at your plans or walk through the home and talk about how you will use each space, including where furniture and appliances will sit, so the power points land where you need them.

02. DESIGN AND PROPOSAL

An electrical layout and a clear, itemised proposal covering lighting, power, switchboard work and fittings. No vague estimates, no hidden costs.

03. ROUGH-IN

Once framing is up and before plaster goes on, we run the cabling, mount the boxes and prepare the switchboard, coordinated with your builder's program.

04. FIT-OFF

After painting and cabinetry we install the switches, power points, lights, fans and fittings, and connect everything up.

05. TESTING AND CERTIFICATION

Every circuit is tested and verified as compliant. You receive an electrical safety certificate within 28 days, and where the work is notifiable we lodge the preliminary notice and notice of completion with the network operator on your behalf.

06. ONGOING SUPPORT

One team, one number. We're still your contact after the renovation is complete, whether it is a small addition, a fault or the next stage.
